2007 NCCU Summer School on Computational Social Sciences

OBJECTIVES:
Simulation, a new niche in studying social phenomena, has emerged and finds its way to prosper in the field of social sciences. Aligned with human subject experiments and fundamental studies in human behavior, simulations are increasingly acknowledged to provide insights of complex social interactions, which are hard to be characterized by any traditional research methods. Such promising approach, yet, needs important contributions from interdisciplinary researchers to harvest its benefits. This Summer School is accordingly established to promote such interdisciplinary researches and to cultivate interested scholars to devote themselves to the development of computational social sciences.

VENUE DESCRIPTION:
The summer school will take place in the campus of National Chengchi University (NCCU), Taipei, Taiwan. NCCU is located at the foot of Chi-nan Mountain, the famous tourist tea mountain in the south of Taipei City, with the Ching-mei River in the west, creating a beautiful and tranquil learning environment and easy access to many Chinese cultural attractions, such as Palace Museum, the world’s tallest building Taipei 101, Chi-nan Temple, Mao-kong Tourist Tea Garden, and traditional Taiwanese night markets, etc.
COST OF SUMMER SCHOOL:
NTD 1000 (approx. US$30). Free for students
ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION PROCESS:
Interested researchers with educational background equivalent to or higher than senior undergraduate level are welcome to send their application via e-mail to register@aiecon.org for evaluation.The application should include a one-to-two-page statement of intent,a copy of transcript, and one letter of references (two letters preferred).
